  • Course Description

Richard Renshaw is an experienced sculptor whose work is in public and private collections. Formerly trained as a geologist, he also had a passion for climbing mountains.

His interests and surroundings have all fed into his work. He is a full time sculptor who works in stone, wood, cast iron and bronze on varied scales. He predominantly works in stone in response to the inspiration of the landscape and wildlife of the Black Mountains where he lives.

Richard will help you see the potential in a lump of stone, creating a three dimensional form, or working in relief.. You may have an idea of what you would like to make and will be encouraged to make sketches to plan your carving.

You will learn how to use the tools provided, how to sharpen them, and will have plenty of opportunity to practice. You don't have to be big or strong to do it!
